Wednesday I donated blood. It is a really good thing to do for your fellow citizens. Don’t be selfish. If your only excuse is “I don’t like needles” or “I need my own blood” you’re lame. If you have a valid reason, please encourage others to donate
On The Office last night, they had a few scenes about donating blood. It was eerily similar to the ones we have had here…

Phone books
17 02 2009I don’t have a land line at my house. I shouldn’t get a phonebook. Or 3.
A week or so ago, The Talking Phone Book delivery guy showed up with TWENTY phone books. I told him we didn’t need so many, but they were already packaged together. Whatever. Maybe we can use them.
Then today The Real Yellow Page delivery guy showed up with 20 MORE phone books and an additional 10 of the mini version. Seriously? We have 50 phone books. We don’t even have 50 phones in building.
They probably called someone here and they told them to bring them by, but nobody really needs phone books anymore, if you have one that is from the past 3 years you should find the information you need. And really, if you have access to the internet you can find the information almost immediately. I’m not trying to put the phone book printers out of business, I’m just trying to reduce the numbers of books we have at our office…

Hootie to play 2008 Party Animals Benefit
15 02 2008The Animal Mission, the non-profit support group for The Columbia Animal Shelter, will hold its 8th annual Party Animals concert and silent auction on Friday, March 2 at 6:30pm.

Party Animals 2008
“Money raised at Party Animals also goes toward enhancing the conditions of shelter-bound pets at the City of Columbia shelter including abandoned farm animals in the barnyard. We also promote cat and dog adoptions for the shelter. While many private shelters turn animals away, the city shelter never does, therefore increasing adoptions is paramount. The good news is that over 2,000 pets were adopted from the shelter in 2006. That’s thousands more than any other shelter in the midlands and up by 17% over the prior year. It takes the help of a band like Hootie & the Blowfish and a lot of ticket sales to make that kind of difference!” said Elaine Gillespie, Vice-president of The Animal Mission.
(FYI HATB are from Columbia or something)
